Service Corporation International (SCI) Corporate - Financial Analyst in Houston, Texas
Overview & Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a qualified and professional individual who will perform complex analysis of various financial measures and accounting functions; conduct financial, statistical, and analytical studies; and prepare and assist in the preparation of financial reports.
Analyze and compare financial results and research variances in results to prior periods
Work with Forecasting and Budgeting team to improve current practices, data flow, and variance explanations on actual results to forecast and budget
Identify and research cause and effect and provide solutions to improve financial and operational performance
Perform management reporting and analysis using Excel and other financial analytical tools to translate trends and variances into meaningful feedback
Create ADHOC reports and retrieve data for operational management through the use of Microsoft Excel, SQL and Access
Assist with building and modifying financial reports including revenue variance explanations, cost explanations, cash flow explanations, and balance sheet explanations
Assist in producing and improving monthly senior management financial reporting package
Work with group leadership to complete high priority projects, improve analysis practices, address project priorities and interact with other corporate departments to manage data flow and deadlines
Work with other corporate departments in identifying process improvement opportunities
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
At least 3 years of Financial analysis, consulting, or accounting experience with emphasis on quantitative and financial analysis
Experience building, modifying, maintaining, and reviewing financial models, primarily in MS Excel, for the purpose of assisting and advising senior level managerial decision making
Highly detail oriented with a careful eye for quality control and presentation of work
Highly motivated with interest in analysis approach, improving models and analysis, proposing new ways to view things, helping formulate opinions and action steps based on analysis performed
Self-motivated and driven to produce results within tight deadlines and with maximum quality allowed within time constraints
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external clients
Ability to interpret and explain complex rules, regulations, policies and procedures; make decisions on a variety of complex matters in accordance with established procedures.
Strong communication and documentation skills, including the ability to interact effectively with various levels of staff and management
Intermediate Excel computer skills; must be able to create and modify existing Excel spreadsheets
